AAC’s work on the Depoe Bay Harbor Docks 2–4 Replacement Project extended well beyond construction. As an Oregon-based contractor, AAC approached this project as an opportunity to invest in the local community, strengthen the regional economy, and build lasting relationships in Depoe Bay.
A central priority was keeping project dollars local. Whenever possible, AAC partnered with regional suppliers and subcontractors. This intentional approach helped ensure the economic benefits of the project stayed within the coastal region. Many of the primary subcontractors were well-established coastal firms, and a significant portion of AAC’s field staff grew up along the Oregon Coast. Their firsthand knowledge of the harbor and personal connection to the community brought added care, accountability, and pride to the work.

Community engagement was equally important. Recognizing Depoe Bay’s close-knit nature, AAC maintained open and ongoing communication with residents, harbor users, City staff, and visitors throughout construction. Informal site visits and regular conversations allowed the team to share project updates, answer questions, and explain the long-term benefits of the improvements. For harbor users and residents, AAC highlighted key upgrades focused on safety and accessibility, including ADA-compliant gangways, wider floats, and improved public access. Early transparency helped ease concerns about change and reinforced a shared sense of ownership in the project’s outcome.
The project also generated meaningful local media attention. Regional news outlets covered both the start and completion of construction, highlighting the project’s technical challenges, the strong collaboration between AAC and the City of Depoe Bay, and the positive impact on the harbor community.

A public ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by Mayor Kathy Short and City officials, served as a visible celebration of the entire team’s efforts and reinforced the connection between skilled construction and long-term community progress. AAC team members attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and accompanying luncheon to celebrate the project’s completion.
Ultimately, the Depoe Bay Dock replacement reflects AAC’s broader commitment to the communities it serves. The project was not just about delivering new infrastructure, but about honoring local values, supporting local businesses, and contributing positively to a harbor that plays a vital role in life along the Oregon Coast.
