Career & Industry Day in Hood River, OR

May 26, 2026

On May 21, 2026, AAC participated in Career and Industry Day in Hood River, Oregon. The event was hosted by the team working on the Hood River–White Salmon Bridge Replacement Project and welcomed more than 200 high school students from the region to explore careers in the trades, construction, engineering, transportation, and public service sectors.

Students had the chance to meet industry professionals, including members of our team, and learn more about the educational and career pathways available to them. Our booth offered an engaging look at both trade apprenticeships and undergraduate career opportunities. Representing AAC were three divers, two engineers, and one marketing team member, all of whom enjoyed speaking with students about their careers and experiences.

One of the biggest highlights for students was learning what it takes to become a commercial diver and work on underwater construction projects. To provide a hands-on demonstration, we set up a dunk tank with one of our divers. Students could communicate directly with the diver through the communications system and even hand him tools as he completed a small underwater construction task. It was a fun and interactive way to showcase the unique nature of underwater construction work.

It was a great event to be part of, allowing us to support the local community, connect with fellow industry partners, learn more about the Hood River–White Salmon Bridge Replacement Project, and inspire the next generation of students.
