Lead Estimator Position Available at AAC

To build on our past and continue to grow, we are performing a nationwide search to find a talented and motivated Lead Estimator to play a crucial role in the company’s future. We are not looking for a cog in the wheel.  We are looking for an integral player who will lead project estimating and help shape AAC’s business going forward.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
The Lead Estimator is responsible for the development and delivery of complete construction estimates for a variety of types of projects in heavy civil/marine construction. This role will provide expertise and leadership for all estimating efforts, ensuring that projects align with company objectives and goals for company performance. Specific position responsibilities:
  • Oversee estimating process including solicitation of bids from vendors and subcontractors; tracking, follow up and reporting  on multiple estimates
  • Manage estimating team of 1-2 employees- includes direction, development, training, technical guidance and accountability for staff to ensure high quality results
  • Coordinate bid effort for design/build projects by working closely with Engineering and Project Management teams
  • Assist in preparing technical narratives for RFP and RFQ responses
  • Develop, adjust, and communicate estimating process improvements
  • Facilitate communication on estimating requirements with related departments including project management, engineering, drafting and operations
  • Ensure the timely completion of estimates within tight deadlines and assigned budgets, including timely reviews with senior management.
  • Participate in professional organizations to ensure updated knowledge of trends and practices within the construction industry
  • Maintain strategic vision for project estimating as it aligns with company objectives and goals
 
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in heavy civil construction, preferably at least 1 year of estimating experience
  • Experience with design/build heavy civil projects, preferably with both private projects and public works
  • Knowledge of construction principles/practices for heavy civil/marine construction projects
  • Expertise with contract management , risk management and  pricing
  • Preferably has experience with HCSS estimating software or similar (Hard Dollar)
  • Availability to travel regionally as needed for business purposes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering preferred
