Project Details

Prime Contractor: Advanced American Construction
Owner: BNSF Railway
Location: Vancouver, WA | February 2020 – March 2020

Advanced American Construction, Inc. (AAC) was contacted by BNSF to work collaboratively with BNSF and Everett Engineering for the marine removal and replacement of the mechanical components on Swing Span Bridge 9.6 over the Columbia River. AAC took delivery of the new gears fabricated by Everett Engineering at AAC’s Portland docks.

AAC loaded all mechanical components and tooling onto a Derrick Barge and towed onsite during a scheduled US Coast Guard closure to facilitate the rehabilitation on both downstream and upstream sides of the bridge. All work was performed safely and without incidents or interruptions to rail traffic or marine commerce.
