Terminal 1 – Vancouver Landing Structural Renovation
Project Details
Owner: Port of Vancouver USA
Location: Vancouver, WA | September 2020 – March 2021
The Terminal 1 – Vancouver Landing Structural Renovation Project is the initial phase of a project creating a green space at the existing amphitheater structure. This phase renovated the structural lateral system to resist a code level seismic event through a batter pile system. The project added two seismic dolphin structures integrated into the existing deck structure. Each dolphin has 10 new steel batter piles and a new concrete pile cap.
The project included steel framing to the existing structure and modified the top deck geometry for the future green space. The project removed the existing precast concrete amphitheater seating and a concrete bulkhead wall, installing flat hollow core deck panels. The bulkhead wall was be replaced with a new concrete cutoff wall set at a lower elevation.
