Project Details

AAC was contracted by BNSF railway to complete the replacement of the bridge 37.0 fender system on the Snohomish River.  The fender system provides protection to the bridge for marine traffic in the Snohomish River.  With daily barge and tug movements, the replacement of the fender system had to be accomplished without putting the bridge at risk.

AAC mobilized a derrick barge and other floating gear to start the sequential removal and replacement of the fender system.  Because all the work was performed next to an in-service rail line and continued operation of the swing span bridge for marine traffic, AAC had to work closely with BNSF to schedule critical activities and prevent any disruptions.

Following the best management practices for environmental stewardship, all work was performed without any environmental issues.
