Project Details

AAC was contacted by several Local and State Agencies to assist with the safe recovery of a vehicle that departed the Interstate 205 roadway while crossing the Glenn Jackson Bridge in February of 2021.  The vehicle landed in the Columbia River and was submerged in approximately 20 feet of water.  During the recovery of the victim by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, coordinates for the approximate location of the vehicle were established.  After some planning and coordination with involved Agencies, AAC dispatched a boat crew to locate the vehicle and confirm the accuracy of the coordinates with onboard sonar equipment.

Once location was confirmed, AAC dispatched a 3-person dive crew of professional commercial divers and a crane barge. AAC’s divers located the vehicle and attached rigging from the crane.  The vehicle was then hoisted out of the river and placed on the crane barge for transport to Port.  The vehicle was transferred to the Portland Police Bureau once back at Port.
